Xiaomi Launches AI-Powered Triple-Drum Washing Machine

Xiaomi is offering pre-orders in China for its Mijia Triple-Tube Washing Machine 14kg series, featuring three distinct drums and AI-driven wash controls. This lineup includes both a washer-dryer model and a standalone washing machine. The machine boasts a total washing capacity of 14kg, with the main drum accommodating 11kg and the two smaller side drums each handling 1.5kg.

The washer-dryer version provides a combined drying capacity of 9kg, with the main drum handling 7kg and each smaller drum managing 1kg. Despite the three-drum configuration, Xiaomi claims the machine's footprint remains similar to their 10kg slimline washing machine, allowing it to fit into standard built-in cabinet spaces. Each drum possesses its own water supply and can function independently, enabling users to run separate wash and dry cycles or utilize just one drum for smaller loads.

The smaller drums have a washing ratio of 1.95, compared to 1.32 for the main drum, and their diameter has been increased to 230mm. The new model places greater emphasis on software, with its AI Mijia Lingyun system incorporating Xiaomi's washing algorithms and the company's MiMo large model. Users can input what they want to wash using text or voice commands, and the system will generate an appropriate washing program based on the provided details.

The washing machine also offers cold-water sterilization, promising up to 10 days of antibacterial protection inside the drum, which aims to minimize the need for frequent high-temperature wash cycles for maintaining hygiene. The washer-dryer version is priced at approximately $745, while the standalone washing machine is priced around $595. Pre-orders are currently open in China, with Xiaomi yet to disclose the delivery schedule.
