On September 23, NASA's Earth Science Division hosted a webinar to update stakeholders on the progress and activities of the Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) program. The CSDA initiative, established by NASA's Earth Science Division, seeks to explore the use of commercial satellite data to augment the agency's Earth science research and application goals.
By identifying and acquiring cost-effective data from commercial providers, the program aims to supplement Earth observations collected by NASA, U.S. Government agencies, and international collaborators.
During the webinar, CSDA program leadership will share updates on various aspects of the program. These include an overview of the range of data modalities available through the CSDA platform, an introduction to a new Cal/Val initiative, progress reports on the data evaluation process, and an update on the current status of contracts with CSDA data providers.
Additionally, the speakers will discuss future on-ramps for additional commercial data sources and address end-user licensing agreements, data availability, access, new data archive and tasking capabilities provided through the CSDA program.
