‘We can’t receive the [Asia Cup] trophy from him’: BCCI secretary reveals India Women’s decision to snub Mohsin Naqvi

India Women's cricket team, champions of the 2026 Women's Asia Cup, chose to decline receiving the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia explained that this decision was a solidarity gesture with the men's team, which had previously refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi after their victory last year.

Saikia stated that despite trying to resolve the matter, their efforts were unsuccessful, and they had no regrets about their stance. The snub overshadowed the team's record-extending eighth title in the Women's Asia Cup, which was achieved by defeating Sri Lanka by 72 runs. Saikia emphasized that the issue should not detract from the team's outstanding performance and highlighted the growing success of women's cricket in India.
