The Benue State Government has announced its determination to arrest and prosecute individuals and groups responsible for the destruction of public utilities and billboards throughout the region. This announcement was made by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Chief Solomon Iorpev, in a statement released on Monday. Iorpev emphasized that such reckless and criminal behavior will no longer be tolerated under any circumstances, as it has resulted in the loss of valuable public and private investments.

The government has made it clear that no one, regardless of their political, social, or personal affiliations, will be immune to prosecution for vandalizing, defacing, or destroying public or private infrastructure. Security agencies have been instructed to heighten their surveillance efforts and apprehend any suspects involved in these acts without delay. Several individuals have already been arrested and are currently in police custody, with court proceedings to follow shortly.

In a firm stance, Iorpev warned those with destructive tendencies to cease their actions immediately, promising that anyone caught will face decisive and appropriate legal consequences. The Benue State Government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and public infrastructure, and encouraged members of the public to report any instances of vandalism to the nearest security agency. The protection of public infrastructure is considered a collective responsibility, according to Iorpev.
