[UPDATED] RTD launches 'H' special registration number series for Malaysia Day

The Road Transport Department (RTD) in Malaysia has launched a special registration number series, the H series, in conjunction with Malaysia Day on September 16. RTD Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli announced the new series during the launch of the Special Registration Number series in Kuala Lumpur today.

The H series includes numbers ranging from H1 to H9999, making it the single-letter registration prefix that the department has never offered before. Bidding for the series begins on September 16 and concludes on September 20, with the results to be announced on September 21. The H series is significant as it symbolizes harmony, a core value of Malaysia Day.

In a statement to reporters, Ramli emphasized the importance of the H series, stating that it is a rare opportunity for Malaysians to own a single-letter registration number. He also clarified that the H series is distinct from the registration numbers of taxis, which are paired with state registration prefixes. For instance, HA has been used for taxis registered in Perak, while HB has been used for taxis registered in Selangor.

Ramli underscored that the H series does not belong to any particular party and is, instead, released for Malaysians to own. He also highlighted that the RTD's special registration number series has generated substantial revenue for the government in recent years. In 2024, the GOLD, FFF, EV, PETRA, and MADANI series generated RM45,931,252.

In 2025, this amount increased to RM62,905,977, with the introduction of several special series, including SIS, GM, and ANSARA. So far in 2026, the FH, P_P, and V_MY series have generated RM38,832,936.
