Ukraine’s prosecutor leaves country

Kiev: Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has departed the country recently, media outlets have reported, following his resignation from his post amid a corruption scandal. He is believed to have fled to Poland. On Monday, Kravchenko made allegations against Ukraine’s anti-corruption authorities, urging the heads of these bodies to step down.

Investigations have been initiated against the head of NABU, Semen Kryvonos, who, according to Kravchenko, forged official documents to secure substantial unlawful benefits. He also mentioned upcoming probes into another agency responsible for tackling corruption. Kravchenko stated that he was on a "business trip" abroad. The Centre for Combating Corruption, a non-governmental organization, alleged that President Volodymyr Zelensky had permitted Kravchenko to leave the country despite ongoing investigations.
