U.S. ambassador, Seoul's vice FM discuss implementation of summit agreements

U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Michelle Steel met with Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jina on Monday to discuss the implementation of trade and security agreements reached by their countries' presidents last year, according to reports. Steel shared her experience in a post on X, expressing that the meeting was highly productive and focused on discussing the implementation of the presidents' agreements from the Joint Fact Sheet.

Kim also shared the news on X, stating that it was her first meeting with Steel and that she was confident in her role as a bridge between the two nations, given her extensive experience and understanding of Korean society. The joint fact sheet, adopted following the summit between President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump last year, encompasses various bilateral commitments on trade, investment, and security.

This includes Korea's $350 billion investment pledge in the United States. Furthermore, the two countries are currently discussing revisions to the Korea-U.S. nuclear energy agreement, also known as the 123 Agreement, to allow for increased collaboration in this area.
