Two women die of suspected electrocution at fish rearing pond in Pantai Air Tawar in Terengganu

JERTIH, Sept 14 — Two women, aged 49 and 27, were found dead of suspected electrocution at a fish rearing pond in Pantai Air Tawar, Terengganu, police reported. The victims, identified as 27-year-old Rubayyi Razali and 49-year-old Wan Adilah Wan Awang, were discovered unconscious at the pond around 1.40 pm on Tuesday. Besut district police officer Mohd Rozaime Ab Rahim stated that both women were pronounced dead by the medical officer on-site, and their bodies were subsequently sent to Besut Hospital’s forensics unit for an autopsy.

The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation, and the case is being classified as sudden death. Wan Muhammad Naim Wan Hussin, the husband of one of the victims, expressed his shock upon discovering his wife and the pond owner in a life-threatening state at the pond. He had picked up his wife at 1 pm, after she had been doing practical training at the pond since August 10 and was scheduled to complete her training by October 2.

Naim noted that an electrical wire and flowing pipe water were present near the area, leading him to believe that electrocution may have been the cause of death. The victims, who have two young sons aged two and four months, are currently mourning their tragic loss.
