Trump downplays calls to monitor AI development from tech CEOs

Washington: President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the United States already possesses measures to oversee and penalize AI companies, seeming to dismiss worries raised by industry professionals over the weekend regarding the misuse of artificial intelligence. The sole regulation or restrictions AI requires are a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!)

He claimed the U.S. already has significant CRIMINAL and REGULATORY authority over these companies. Trump alleged a CORRUPT CONSPIRACY targeting AI and data centers, with only China reveling in it.

Concerns about potential dangers from AI escalated in the US after two Anthropic researchers warned last week that rapid progress could lead to the extinction of humanity in the near future. On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed a three-step plan to regulate development and extend time to address its risks, which was promptly supported by executives from major AI firms such as Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Trump maintained that the safeguards to protect AI were already employed against Amodei. He asserted the Trump administration had prevented Anthropic and similar entities from engaging in harmful or potentially harmful activities, and they would continue to do so. Trump has refrained from generating AI concerns and has generally supported AI firms during his second term.
