Trump Calls Concerns Over Rapid AI Growth a 'Sick Conspiracy'

In a recent statement, U.S. President Donald Trump has ridiculed worries that artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing at an alarming pace, labeling the criticism as a "SICK conspiracy." The remarks emerged after prominent technology executives, such as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, urged for greater government regulation of AI systems.

The apprehension surrounding AI safety has intensified in recent months due to incidents involving autonomous AI agents and warnings about the potential risks associated with increasingly self-governing systems. Trump responded to these concerns by asserting that AI does not require additional restrictions, other than having a "STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT" to ensure proper oversight, as he emphasized on his Truth Social account.

Furthermore, Trump claimed that his administration had already thwarted Anthropic from deploying its technology in ways that could be deemed harmful or potentially dangerous. This comment came amid a strained relationship between the Trump administration and Anthropic, as the Pentagon had previously flagged the company's AI models as a potential security threat and contemplated imposing a temporary ban on one of their advanced models.

Trump's comments also echoed concerns regarding the alleged conspiracy targeting AI and data centers, with China being the sole entity benefiting from these alleged machinations. Anthropic's CEO, Dario Amodei, recently cautioned against uncontrolled AI development, warning that AI agents could potentially dominate large portions of the internet within six to twelve months.

Microsoft, too, has introduced a code of conduct to maintain human control over AI systems, as concerns surrounding AI-related stocks continued to decline worldwide. Shares in Nvidia experienced a 3.5% drop, while Elon Musk's SpaceX saw a 1.7% decrease in value.
