'This Is His House, He Has To Come': Sunita Ahuja Reveals Why Govinda Has Been Missing From Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations

On Sunday, videos of Sunita Ahuja, the wife of actor Govinda, bringing Ganpati Bappa home went viral on social media. The Lock Upp contestant was seen dancing while welcoming Bappa home. However, netizens commented on the video, "Where's Govinda?"

During a conversation with ANI, Sunita revealed that Govinda is in America and will return on Monday night. She stated, "Govinda ji is in America, he'll come back at night. If he is tired, he won't come for darshan today and instead will come tomorrow. This is his house, so he has to come." The tradition of bringing Ganpati home began with Sunita's late mother-in-law, and she plans to continue it until she is alive.

Sunita also explained that it is a tradition for either Govinda or her son Yashvardhan to bring Bappa home every year. However, this year, she decided to take on the responsibility herself, bringing Ganpati home with singing and dancing. She mentioned that Bappa has brought her fame in the past year, and she has been working hard, leading to positive outcomes in her life. Consequently, she chose to bring Lord Ganesha with her own hands this time.

Regarding how long they keep Ganpati Bappa in their home, Sunita explained that they usually keep him for 1.5 days. She shared that if they keep him for more days, the pooja and associated rituals need to be carried out accordingly. Sunita is preparing for her Bollywood debut with the film Hero Ki Horrorine, which will also mark her son Yashvardhan's debut. The movie is set to release on January 7, 2026.
