Elon Musk's AI "Odyssey" contest ended with a perplexing result, as the winning entry was a bizarre amalgamation of inaccuracies and bizarre imagery. The victorious film, which claimed to be "historically accurate" and "true to the art of Homer," featured a Cyclops with three eyes, an oversized Polyphemus, and cartoonish gods. The dialogues were delivered in dramatic whispers, and fight scenes were edited to mask the actual impact.

While some shots were passable, the overall production failed to coalesce into a coherent whole. The creator, Nem Perez, boasted that this was "The Odyssey" as Homer intended, despite glaring inconsistencies, such as the soldiers wearing Roman armor. Musk, who had previously criticized Christopher Nolan's diverse adaptation of the epic, had vowed to create a historically accurate film with his AI tool, Grok Imagine.

However, even the short films produced thus far reveal that AI video generators and their creators are not yet capable of producing high-quality films.
