Summit: NDCCITMA Woos Investors, Says Region Ready for Business

Blessing Ibunge in Port Harcourt reports that the Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) is seeking investment from various stakeholders, including the nine Niger Delta states, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the private sector, to transform the region into a thriving economic hub.

NDCCITMA Chairman, Idaere Gogo Ogan, stated this during a pre-summit briefing in Port Harcourt ahead of the upcoming Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit, set to take place in the capital city. The summit, themed “Driving Investment, Innovation and Industrial Growth in the Niger Delta,” aims to serve as a private-sector led platform to attract investments, facilitate transactions and unlock the region’s economic potential.

Ogan emphasized that the summit would bring together all relevant stakeholders, from the nine Niger Delta states and the federal government to organized private sector, domestic and international investors, development finance institutions, multilateral organizations, financial institutions, project developers, and other strategic partners.

His ultimate goal is to shift the region from a resource-dependent economy to a diversified, productive, industrialized, and globally competitive regional economy. According to Ogan, the challenges facing the Niger Delta are largely self-inflicted and require stronger collaboration between governments and the private sector to overcome.

He affirmed that the summit would initiate efforts to tackle these challenges by fostering stronger partnerships between governments and the private sector to develop policies that address the region's issues.
