SkyFall Landing Site Workshop

The Mars Exploration Program is hosting a series of SkyFall Landing Site Workshops to identify high-value potential landing sites for the upcoming SkyFall mission to Mars. The first of two workshops will be held virtually on February 9-10, 2027. The workshops aim to maximize science value in the selection of landing sites, given the rapid development cadence of the SkyFall mission.

The outcome of the First Landing Site Workshop will be a ranked list of potential landing sites, which will be further studied by the SkyFall project and science community before a Second Landing Site Workshop later in 2027. Before the workshop, individuals and groups are invited to submit potential landing sites for preliminary assessment by the SkyFall team.

Sites that meet engineering constraints and demonstrate promising science value will be invited to present at the workshop; those that do not will be notified prior to the event.
