Sheikh Khaled meets Citigroup CEO to discuss banking sector co-operation

On a recent occasion, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, held a meeting with Jane Fraser, the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup, the global investment bank. The gathering was aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration and strengthening the ties between the two entities within the banking sector, according to Wam, the state news agency.

During the meeting, Sheikh Khaled and Jane Fraser delved into the possibility of developing financial solutions that could enhance the efficiency of the business ecosystem. They also discussed ways to support sustainable growth across various economic sectors. Citigroup, with its local arm Citi Bank UAE, had a significant presence in the UAE, with a notable exposure of $17.3 billion at the end of 2025, as reported by Reuters.

Citi Bank UAE, which has been serving as a pivotal financial center in the region since 1964, had established its regional office in Dubai International Financial Centre in 2006 and opened a branch in Abu Dhabi’s financial center, ADGM, in 2018. The bank specializes in providing liquidity management solutions to clients who aim to set up regional Treasury centers in the UAE.

The attendees of the meeting included not only Sheikh Khaled and Jane Fraser, but also Ahmed Al Zaabi, the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, and Saif Ghobash, the Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
