Ruto Commissions New Otonglo Police Station in Kisumu West

Kisumu, Kenya - President William Ruto recently commissioned the Otonglo Police Station in Kisumu West Constituency, as part of the government's efforts to bolster security infrastructure in the region. During his development tour of the Nyanza area, the President inaugurated the facility on Monday, underscoring its significance in a region that has long faced security challenges.

Otonglo, recognized as a burgeoning commercial and residential area as early as the 1994–1998 Kisumu District Development Plan, has been a focal point for security concerns in Kisumu West. Following the completion of its construction and its formal designation in March 2026, the new police station aims to bolster police presence and improve response times to security incidents in the area.

This development aligns with broader government initiatives to expand security infrastructure and enhance access to policing services as the region's residential and commercial sectors continue to expand. The Ministry of Interior highlighted the station's role in responding to sustained calls for heightened security presence in the area.

As part of his five-day Nyanza tour, President Ruto has also inspected and commissioned various projects across the region, including infrastructure in security, roads, water, housing, and aviation sectors. The newly established Otonglo Police Station is anticipated to serve residents of Kisumu West and neighboring areas by bringing essential policing services closer to the growing population.
