Rompak bersenjata, 5 remaja dihantar Sekolah Henry Gurney

In Sarawak, a special school, Henry Gurney School, has been ordered by a court to house five male teenagers who have admitted to committing a group armed robbery at a 24-hour convenience store. After reviewing a social report and the juveniles' conduct provided by the Welfare Department, Judge Noorhisham Jaafar issued the order.

Two of the juveniles, both aged 18, must remain in the school until they turn 21. The remaining three, aged between 14 and 15, are to be held there for five years. They pleaded guilty on August 5 for the crime of gang robbery, which was committed along with Section 397, involving the use of firearms. According to the facts of the case, they were accompanied by one other accomplice, who remains at large, in an early morning raid at a 24-hour store on Tun Jugah Street on June 1.

The attackers threatened the store worker with a knife and a crowbar around 4 a.m., demanding RM1,000 in cash and cigarettes before fleeing. The juveniles also damaged the store's CCTV camera and cash register. Police arrested the juveniles on July 31. Deputy Prosecutor Adriana Maisarah Farid led the prosecution, while all the juveniles were represented by counsel.
