RMAFC Staff Warned Against Abuse Of Office, Process Manipulation

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has cautioned its staff members against abusing their positions, engaging in conflicts of interest, showing favoritism, and manipulating official processes. RMAFC chairman Muhammed Bello-Shehu emphasized the importance of following proper procedures, promoting transparency, and ensuring accountability in order to maintain public confidence in the management of Nigeria's revenue.

The warning was given during the opening of a five-day training program for RMAFC staff, organized by the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU). The training focuses on areas such as revenue integrity, institutional accountability, anti-corruption practices, and effective internal controls. Bello-Shehu, represented by Ismail Mohammed-Agaka, a Federal Commissioner for Kwara State, reminded staff that their constitutional responsibilities place them at the heart of Nigeria's fiscal governance.

He stressed the need to uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability, noting that corruption can extend beyond bribery and outright misappropriation to include deliberate violations of procedures and actions that erode public trust. Bello-Shehu urged participants to make full use of the training and apply the knowledge they gain in their respective roles, emphasizing that integrity should guide their decisions while accountability should define their actions.

Dr Idris Yusuf Musa, Director of Audit and Chairman of ACTU, highlighted that the training is part of efforts to institutionalize transparency and accountability within the commission. Musa appealed to participants to avoid practices that undermine due process and the credibility of RMAFC. He praised the RMAFC management for their support of the program and the ICPC for its partnership in promoting integrity in public service.

Participants expressed appreciation for the training, stating that it would enhance their understanding of integrity and accountability in the workplace and help identify and address practices that could compromise institutional integrity.
