Rams’ Sean McVay has Myles Garrett update 1 day after IR decision

However, their season began poorly, with a 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia, a game where Garrett failed to make an impact. In his first game in a Rams uniform, the superstar struggled, failing to record a sack, tackle, or quarterback hit. Garrett had been dealing with a lingering knee issue throughout training camp, which continued to plague him in his season debut.

The team announced that Garrett would undergo knee surgery and be placed on injured reserve, ruling him out for at least the next four games. Head coach Sean McVay stated Monday that he does not have a timeline yet for Garrett's return, waiting for all information from the procedure. Originally, the Rams hoped Garrett could play through the season without surgery, but that was not the case.

Los Angeles now faces the challenge of coping without one of their best players, with Byron Young and the return of Aaron Donald expected to bolster the defense. Garrett is expected to return in Week 6 for an NFC West game against the Arizona Cardinals.
