Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi bring Ram-Sita’s story to life in AR Rahman's Jai Jai Ram track

Ramayana: Part 1 unveiled its inaugural song, "Jai Jai Ram," on Ganesh Chaturthi, signalling the official launch of the film's musical journey. The musical composition is by renowned AR Rahman, who worked alongside lyricist Dr. Kumar Vishwas and playback singers Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. The track is centered on repeated calls to Ram's name, serving as a prayer-like invocation rather than a standard film song.

AR Rahman shared his ambition to maintain the intimate and devotional essence of the track while ensuring it matched the grandeur expected of a cinematic production. The lyrics, penned by Dr. Kumar Vishwas, aim to encapsulate the bond devoted followers have with Ram, portraying him as a source of guidance and strength rather than directly describing him, with the language kept unembellished.

Producer Namit Malhotra linked the song's release date to Ganesh Chaturthi, a day traditionally associated with auspicious beginnings, emphasizing that the song aimed to lay the emotional and spiritual groundwork for the upcoming film. Concurrently, the promotional materials introduced Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, highlighting the central relationship at the heart of the narrative.

Apart from the audio release, the promotional team presented a new motion poster capturing the essence of Ram and Sita's bond. Additional musical collaborations are in the pipeline, including a joint venture between AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer at a music event in London. Filming for Ramayana is reportedly finished, with the production team now focusing on post-production and developing an international marketing push in anticipation of the film's theatrical debut.

Notably, Yash declined a Rs 100 crore offer for South Indian distribution rights, underscoring the film's high production value and global ambitions. Rakul Preet Singh, who plays Surpanakha, revealed insights into the lesser-known aspects of the character that influenced her decision to take on the role.
