Poco X8 Review: The Rugged Battery Champion Of Its Segment

Poco has introduced the Poco X8 to its X-series lineup in India, emphasizing its durability and battery capabilities. The device is available in three configurations, ranging from Rs. 29,999 to Rs. 35,999, depending on the RAM and storage options (6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB). During our week-long testing, we used the phone as our daily driver, thoroughly evaluating its performance across various benchmarks, camera tests, and regular usage scenarios.

Design-wise, the Poco X8 embraces a functional, industrial aesthetic rather than focusing on premium looks. This design decision pays off in the phone's resilience during everyday use. The camera module sits on the top left of the back panel, with a clean, minimal rear panel featuring a vertical Poco branding and an accent strip near the bottom for visual distinction.

The phone's ergonomics are comfortable, with a flat frame, rounded corners, and a thumb-friendly placement for the volume rocker and power button on the right edge. The bottom edge houses the USB-C port, a speaker grille, SIM tray, primary microphone, and speaker, while the microphone and speaker remain cleanly separated for stereo output.

For durability, Poco has implemented Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, along with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. This comprehensive protection against dust, high-pressure water jets, and accidental submersion is a rare feature for this price range, providing peace of mind to users.

The Poco X8 features a large 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, boasting peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits and HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. Our week using the device confirmed that the display is a strong asset in its price bracket. Notably, outdoor visibility is excellent, with the panel maintaining readability even under harsh midday sunlight. Colors are vibrant and accurate, with deep blacks, while the Wet Touch 2.0 feature ensures better responsiveness with wet fingers.
