PIA, Afghanistan’s Kam Air ink interline agreement

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Afghanistan's Kam Air have entered into an interline agreement aimed at facilitating smoother travel for passengers traveling from Afghanistan to the Middle East. This collaboration will enable passengers to book a single reservation, avoiding the need to recheck their luggage in Islamabad and bypass immigration during airside transit.

According to a PIA spokesman, the agreement establishes a streamlined transit route connecting Afghanistan to key Middle Eastern destinations via Islamabad.

The first phase of the agreement focuses on the Kabul-Islamabad-Dammam route. Under the terms of the collaboration, passengers can book their entire itinerary under a unified reservation, eliminating the necessity of purchasing separate tickets for each leg of their journey. Checked luggage from Kabul will be transferred directly at Islamabad International Airport to the connecting PIA flight, obviating the need for passengers to collect and recheck their baggage during transit.

A Nadra-integrated vaccination proof is mandatory for outbound travel. Airport authorities emphasized that Afghan travelers en route to Gulf destinations can bypass immigration clearance in Pakistan as long as they remain airside during transit. The government has made the Nadra-integrated vaccination proof mandatory for travelers leaving the country starting today; thus, passengers must ensure they possess the necessary proof, which will be available for vaccination and online registration at the international departure lounge in the coming days.

Those requiring vaccination upon arrival at the airport must arrive six hours prior to their flight, as directed by the Airport Health Department. Payment for vaccination will be processed through the e-Sahulat Nadra platform.

For pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj and Umrah, the federal government's civil dispensary is the sole authorized center for vaccination. Airlines, including PIA, have been instructed to inform travel agents of these directives, ensuring that only Nadra-integrated vaccination proofs will be accepted for travel. No passenger will be permitted to embark on international flights without presenting the vaccination proof.

International travelers should obtain the proof before departing, while those heading to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah must receive the vaccination from an authorized government center. Umrah pilgrims are required to obtain a digital vaccination card from Nadra before embarking on their journey.
