Peter Obi certificates: Abayomi Arabambi not our member – Labour Party

The Labour Party, LP, has clarified that Abayomi Arabambi, who recently sued various institutions over Peter Obi's academic records, was not a member of the party. In a statement by LP's National Publicity Secretary, Ken Eluma Asogwa, the party stated that they chose to remain silent upon first learning of the situation on social media, as reacting could only fuel the desires of those seeking attention.

However, a response became necessary once the story was reported in mainstream media with headlines labeling Arabambi as an LP chieftain. The party emphasized that they would refrain from commenting on the substance of Arabambi's case before the court, given that Peter Obi is no longer an LP member. They informed the public that Arabambi was among 25 members suspended by the National Executive Council on March 18, 2026, for anti-party activities, and that he ceased to be a member after the National Convention ratified the suspension on April 28, 2026.

The party also noted that no executive of the party has reconsidered or reversed this decision. They urged the public and media to note that Arabambi could not have initiated legal action as an LP member, as he had long distanced himself from the party. If Arabambi misrepresented himself as an LP chieftain or representative, the public is informed that such actions are unauthorized and amount to impersonation.

The statement, issued to clarify the alleged relationship between Arabambi and the Labour Party, does not affect the validity of his claims against Peter Obi in court.
