Pakistan steps up efforts to help end Middle East conflict

Wearable fitness tracker company Whoop has experienced strong sales growth in the Middle East, especially among women, according to Dr Ami Bhatt, the company's first chief medical officer. Female member growth in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region has surged more than 90 percent year-over-year, with robust growth seen across all tracked markets.

Whoop's CEO, Will Ahmed, recently announced a second office in the UAE, emphasizing the move as critical for growth. In March, Whoop secured $575 million in funding from international investors, including Abu Dhabi and Qatari sovereign wealth funds. Dr Bhatt, who previously served as chairwoman of the US Food and Drug Administration's digital health advisory committee, highlighted how AI-driven devices like Whoop can help people understand their health better.

The company has partnered with Natural Cycles, a non-hormonal birth control and fertility tracking app, to integrate physiological data and clinically validated fertility insights. This integration aims to provide women with a more connected picture of their reproductive health, sleep, recovery, and overall well-being. Dr Bhatt emphasized that Whoop's success is driven by women, particularly in the GCC region, where women now account for about one in four new members.

The company is investing in research related to every major stage of women's physiology, from menstrual cycles to menopause and strength training. Women are also logging menstruation as the second-most frequently tracked behavior in the region.
