Online hate researcher keeps hammering X despite deportation threat

The US government remains steadfast in its pursuit to deport noncitizen technology researchers who scrutinize safety concerns on major online platforms. Following a judge's ruling in July, a policy that allowed for the detainment and deportation of such individuals was deemed unconstitutional. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had announced the policy, explaining that it aimed to prevent foreign nationals from interfering with digital town squares and censoring American voices.

He indicated that the policy could potentially be expanded to include more researchers. However, in an order staying the policy, US District Judge James Boasberg argued that the US presented no evidence linking the targeted researchers to foreign entities attempting to censor Americans or manipulate public discourse. Judge Boasberg deemed the policy too broad, suggesting it could ensnare any noncitizen involved in content moderation.
