OGSA at 50: Alumni, stakeholders rally to renew school’s legacy

Fifty years after its founding, Omoluorogbo Grammar School (OGSA) is set to commemorate its Golden Jubilee through a three-day event from October 29 to 31, 2026. The anniversary will foster reunions, thanksgivings, reflections, and a renewed dedication to the school's progress. Chairperson of the 50th Anniversary Implementation Committee, Hon.

Kayode Akinmade, believes the Gold Jubilee offers a chance to honor OGSA's accomplishments and highlight the necessity to safeguard its legacy and fund its future. Despite challenges, OGSA has remained strong, consistently producing graduates who have excelled in various professions. The school's alumni, serving in diverse industries, have maintained a vital connection with the institution.

Akinmade describes OGSA's history as one of "people, values, resilience, and enduring excellence," emphasizing the significance of its achievements in forming the school's identity. With many of the current structures dating back to the school's emergence from the Messiah Modern School in 1976, the jubilee serves as an opportune moment to envision a new phase of development.

The three-day program will feature events such as an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service, historical and cultural celebrations, reunion gatherings, career guidance sessions led by accomplished alumni, sports activities, and the official launch of the OGSA Legacy Project. The legacy initiative aims to ensure that the jubilee's impact endures, transforming the celebration into a lasting benefit for present and future students rather than just a commemorative event.

As OGSA enters its sixth decade, the committee emphasizes that the anniversary is not just about looking back but also about determining how to make the next 50 years more impactful.
