Oburu Odinga spotted walking in London streets after hospitalisation

Nairobi, Kenya – ODM leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga was recently photographed strolling through London's streets following his return from the United Kingdom for a routine medical examination. Accompanied by his son, Elijah, aide-de-camp Peter, and ODM Chief of Staff Michael Agwanda, Odinga was seen out and about as he continues his recovery.

The senator's journey to the UK commenced on August 29, when he was admitted to Nairobi Hospital for a brief stay that fueled speculation about his health. He was discharged from the hospital on August 30 and returned to his Nairobi residence to rest. Following his release, Odinga confirmed that he had recovered at home, aimed at reassuring his supporters of his well-being.

In response to growing concerns over his hospitalization, Oburu Odinga embarked on a medical excursion to Britain, which his party characterized as a routine check-up. The trip was expected to be completed soon, after which Odinga planned to return to Kenya. His public appearance in London arrives during a crucial period for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), as the party seeks to consolidate its position ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The ODM has been navigating the political landscape that followed the passing of its late leader, Raila Odinga, in October 2025. Odinga, the elder brother of Raila, assumed leadership of the party in March 2026 following his brother's death.
