North Korea thrash Bangladesh 10-0 in Asian Games women’s football

The head coach of Hong Kong, China's cycling team, Hervé Dagorne, expressed his team's ambition to secure at least five medals at the upcoming Asian Games. The team will field 13 male and 10 female cyclists who will compete across various disciplines, including track, road, mountain bike, and BMX racing. Dagorne stated, "We have a target on my shoulder of five medals; we hope this is what we should achieve if everything is going well."

He added that the team members are in a good dynamic, with a positive training atmosphere and overall mood, which is contributing to their success so far.

Hong Kong, China has historically performed well in cycling at the Asian Games. They captured six medals in the last Asian Games held in Hangzhou in 2023, including one gold, three silvers, and two bronze. For the upcoming competition, the team will face tough competition in the track races from the national team and Japan. In the road races, while Kazakhstan remains a significant threat, Dagorne also highlighted a potential Uzbek rival who recently changed their nationality from Russia.

Both Vincent Lau and Chloe Leung, who will compete in the road events, visited Nagoya last week to get acquainted with the 23-kilometre circuit, which features extended climbs and technical drops through rural terrain. The coach mentioned that the course is narrow and slippery, with technical drops and rain expected during the Games, necessitating careful preparation, tire selection, pressure adjustments, and wheel choices.

Leung, who recently suffered a fractured finger during a race in late July, admitted that she is behind schedule in her recovery and fears it might impact her performance at the Games. Meanwhile, Ceci Lee, who achieved two silvers and a bronze in her Asian Games debut in Hangzhou, expressed her goal of doing even better this time round, particularly in the track events. She intends to focus on track events in Nagoya.
