Nolan's 'Odyssey' tops Korean box office for 40th straight day

Christopher Nolan's ambitious film, The Odyssey, has maintained its position at the top of the Korean box office for an impressive 40th consecutive day. The blockbuster, which premiered on August 5, has already captured a staggering audience of 10.78 million viewers. Over the weekend, The Odyssey drew an additional 449,000 spectators, bringing its total weekend ticket sales to 51.5 percent of all sales from Friday to Sunday. This marks the sixth consecutive week that the film has held the top spot on the weekend chart.

Drawing inspiration from Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey, the movie follows the thrilling journey of Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the Greek king of Ithaca, as he navigates the dangerous return home after the Trojan War. The star-studded cast also includes renowned actors Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, and Zendaya.

While The Odyssey reigns supreme, the Hollywood horror film Obsession secured the second position with 176,000 admissions over the three-day period, accounting for an 18.6 percent market share. Its cumulative total now stands at 474,000 admissions, with distributors anticipating it will cross the 500,000 mark this week. In third place, Spider-Man: Brand New Day managed to pull in 84,000 viewers.
