No confidence motion? Negeri Sembilan Speaker says none filed against MB Ismail Lasim

Seremban, September 14 — Speaker Datuk Seri Dr Awaludin Said has firmly stated that no motion of no confidence has been filed against Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim ahead of the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state assembly meeting. The Star reported that Awaludin has not received any formal notice or heard of such an action following recent controversies surrounding the adat issue in the state.

"I can deny that this will be brought up or tabled at the upcoming sitting. Also, I will only allow a motion if the state government has made a decision on it," he confirmed. Awaludin's remarks come in response to social media speculation suggesting that assembly members from Barisan Nasional or Perikatan Nasional were plotting to remove Ismail during the scheduled assembly on October 16.

The five-day meeting will be officially opened by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. Awaludin emphasized that even if an emergency motion were to be tabled, he would not permit it. He added that issues involving unverified matters should not be brought before the House, which he described as the pinnacle of legislative institution responsible for creating laws and policies.

Furthermore, matters considered illegal under state laws must first be addressed by relevant authorities, including the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang, before being discussed in the assembly. Urging the public to exercise patience and refrain from spreading unverified allegations, Awaludin stated that the focus should be on the state government's formation, the appointment of the Menteri Besar, and the swearing-in of the executive council and assembly members.
