Nigerians Are Tired, They Deserve Better, Atiku Ready to Provide It, Says Movement

The Atiku/Amaechi Movement has declared that the 2027 presidential election should be judged by capability, experience, and the urgent need to save Nigeria, rather than personal preferences and political debate. Umar Ibrahim Shanono, the group's leader, made this point while responding to remarks made by former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, regarding former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's candidacy.

Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the Movement's National Director for Media and Communications, affirmed that they respect Senator Kwankwaso's right to his viewpoint and recognize him as a respected figure in Nigeria's democracy. Nevertheless, Sanyinnawal emphasized that 2027 is not about individuals, but about competence, experience, and the pressing need to rescue Nigeria.

He highlighted Atiku Abubakar's proven history of service in both public and private sectors, noting his profound understanding of the nation's economy. Sanyinnawal also pointed out that Atiku's national reach is essential to unify the country, given the growing division and mistrust among different regions and ethnic groups. He further suggested that pairing Atiku with the administrative skills of former Rivers State Governor and former Minister of Transportation, Hon.

Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, would provide Nigerians with "tested leadership they deserve at this critical time." Although the Movement acknowledged disagreements with those who minimize the capabilities of the Atiku/Amaechi duo, it refused to engage in conflict because the issues facing Nigerians are too severe for such distractions.

"Insecurity, poverty, and division — these are too serious for distractions," the statement concluded. "That is why we are calling on all opposition leaders and patriotic Nigerians to put the country first."
