Nearly 7,000 Lexus vehicles recalled across the UAE

Dubai: Al Futtaim Automotive, in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism, is initiating two recall programs targeting 6,933 Lexus vehicles across the nation due to separate engine software and transmission concerns. These recalls involve Lexus LX500 and LX600 models assembled in Japan between 2021 and 2024, as per the recall details, reported by Emarat Al Youm.

The first campaign targets 3,222 vehicles and consists of an engine electronic control unit software update. The recall notice indicates that the engine control software might not adequately consider the impact of cooling fan operation. In certain situations, such as full throttle acceleration, the engine's real output may not align with the stipulated specifications.

To address this, the engine control unit software will be updated at no cost to affected customers. The second recall encompasses 3,711 vehicles and pertains to a problem with the 10-speed automatic transmission. This defect could result in abnormal rotational speed in specific gears, potentially causing transmission damage, loss of driving force, or transmission oil leakage, heightening the risk of accidents or fires.

Affected vehicles will undergo inspection, and the transmission control unit will be reprogrammed at no charge. Al Futtaim Automotive will reach out to owners of the implicated vehicles to schedule inspection appointments and execute the necessary steps, as per the recall notices.
