Navya Nanda on her future at Rs 31,000 cr Escorts: ‘Won’t restrict identity to last name’

Navya Nanda, the granddaughter of Bollywood legend Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, has expressed her desire to earn her place at the table based on her abilities rather than her surname. At a recent event, the 27-year-old, who recently completed her PG MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, emphasized that her identity should not be limited to her family background.

Navya's late grandmother Ritu Nanda, the eldest daughter of filmmaker Raj Kapoor, is particularly influential in shaping her ambitions. Navya was inspired by her dadi's corporate career, which sparked her desire to enter the business world. She founded Aara Health, a wellness platform for women, and Project Naveli, a non-profit focused on gender equality.

However, Navya acknowledges that inheriting a famous last name comes with expectations. She stated that while she aims to live up to her name, she also understands that she might never fully meet those standards. Navya firmly believes that women, like herself, should not be confined to roles such as mother, sister, or homemaker. Instead, she wants to create her own identity through her professional and personal life.

Nikhil Nanda, Navya's father and the chairman-managing director of Escorts Kubota, echoed his daughter's sentiments. He emphasized that success in the company should be earned through hard work and skills, regardless of surname. Nikhil expressed confidence in Navya's ability to carve her own path and contribute to the growth of EKL.
