NACOC arrests 3 suspects linked to Dutch fugitive drug kingpin

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has apprehended three suspects who are believed to be associated with Dutch fugitive drug lord Jos Leijdekkers, also known as "Bolle Jos," in Ghana. The arrests were made in response to the seizure of cocaine by French customs, which is allegedly tied to a larger drug trafficking network, as reported by French authorities.

NACOC spokesperson, PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, revealed that the suspects are currently under custody, aiding investigators in determining their roles in the alleged operation. NACOC emphasized that these arrests are part of their strategy to disrupt international drug trafficking networks and deter Ghana from becoming a base for such illicit activities.

The agency pledged to continue collaborating with both local and international law enforcement agencies to dismantle the networks sustaining the illicit drug trade. NACOC also assured that the rights and legal protections of all individuals under investigation would be maintained throughout the ongoing investigations. The arrests follow a call from the Minority in Parliament for a comprehensive parliamentary inquiry into Ghana's increasing role as a potential transit hub for narcotics under the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government.
