Nach jahrelanger Verzögerung: Tesla bringt E-Lastwagen 2027 nach Europa

After delays spanning years, Tesla is set to bring its electric semi-truck, known as Semi, to Europe starting next year. The delivery of the first vehicles to European customers is scheduled to begin in 2027, as reported by the US automaker at the IAA Transportation event in Hannover. Additional details regarding the market launch in Europe are expected to be released in the coming months.

Initially, the standard version of the truck will be launched in Europe, capable of traveling approximately 550 kilometers on a single charge. Rapid charging stations will allow the electric light truck to replenish up to 60% of its range within 30 minutes. The vehicle is designed to handle a total payload of 40 tons. For comparison, Tesla estimates that the version with a larger battery will offer a range of up to 800 kilometers in the United States.

The semi-trailer debuted in 2017 but was originally slated for production in 2019. However, Tesla postponed the launch multiple times, citing the need for batteries in other vehicles such as the popular Model 3. Production in larger quantities commenced in April of this year at a facility in Nevada, USA. The first Tesla lorries have already been delivered to customers in the United States, including beverage and snack giant PepsiCo.

In Europe, the truck will compete with production models from European manufacturers like Daimler Truck, MAN, Scania, Volvo, Iveco, and Renault. Tesla, led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, showcased the Semi at the IAA two years ago. The commercial vehicle show officially opens on Tuesday and runs until Sunday.
