Milobar’s new party gains seventh B.C. legislator as Donegal Wilson joins

B.C.'s newly formed political party, led by Peter Milobar, has expanded its membership to include its seventh MLA, Donegal Wilson. Wilson, a former Conservative legislator from Boundary-Similkameen, announced her decision to join the new party on Monday, expressing her enthusiasm about contributing to its development. Wilson had previously quit the Conservatives on September 2, citing her disagreement with the leadership of Kerry-Lynne Findlay, the party's leader.

She explained that she had not intended to join any party when she left the Conservatives but quickly found common ground with the other MLAs in the emerging coalition. Wilson emphasized her fiscal conservatism and the need for a credible alternative to the NDP for British Columbians to choose from during the upcoming election. The unnamed party, which was founded by Milobar and Ian Paton, has also attracted other former Conservative MLAs, including Bruce Banman, A’a:liya Warbus, Rosalyn Bird, and Teresa Wat. Two remaining Conservative legislators, Scott McInnis and Brennan Day, plan to sit as Independents.
