Melaka assures water supply safe after human remains found at dam reserve

Melaka assures the public that its water supply remains safe after suspected human remains were discovered at the Durian Tunggal Dam reserve. State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh stated that continuous quality monitoring revealed no breaches in the parameters of either raw or treated water. The government recognizes the community's concerns, particularly as the site is within the water supply's catchment area.

Salhah emphasized that all raw water undergoes thorough treatment before being distributed and is continuously tested against established standards. The state government will intensify monitoring and inspection in the affected area, including additional sampling and testing. They will continue to collaborate with the police and relevant technical agencies to address the situation appropriately.

The discovery of suspected human remains should not be perceived as contamination or a threat to water safety, as conclusions must be based on monitoring results, sampling, and official technical evaluations.
