Matt LaFleur: Packers ‘potentially’ looking at options at guard

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur acknowledged the team's poor performance on the offensive line during their Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. LaFleur attributed the issues to mental errors resulting in poor pass protection. He emphasized the need for improvements in the coming week. The Lions and Vikings, both in the top 3 for rush/coverage disguise rate, were blitz-heavy against Green Bay.

New York Jets, despite not blitzing as much, are also among the highest blitz-rate teams in the league. LaFleur admitted to several protection failures that should not have occurred. He stated that if the Packers fail to rectify these issues, LaFleur may consider recruiting help from the National Guard. When asked about the possibility of finding an alternative guard if Aaron Banks can't return, LaFleur said the team could "potentially" explore other options.

The other active guards available for the upcoming game include Anthony Belton, Jager Burton, and John Williams. There were no major injuries reported from Week 1's action. Cornerback Brandon Cisse was sidelined due to cramps, with Carrington Valentine replacing him and facing multiple scoring opportunities by the Vikings.
