Makin Laboratories' R&D Unit Gets Central Government's DSIR Recognition In MP's Pithampur

Pithampur, located in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, has witnessed a significant achievement for Makin Laboratories Private Limited's in-house R&D unit. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of the Government of India has recognized the unit's capabilities, which are set to remain valid until March 31, 2029.

The company, which specializes in nutraceuticals, herbal products, Ayurvedic and cosmeceuticals, has been developing its research capabilities at Pithampur since 2018. Makin Laboratories managing director, Yash Sharma, expressed his satisfaction with the recognition, stating that it validates the company's commitment to building research infrastructure in the region over the past eight years.

The R&D facility focuses on formulation and analytical development, ingredient standardisation, pilot-scale translation, and commercial scale-up. Furthermore, the company has completed pre-clinical research on its patented technology and registered one human clinical study with the Clinical Trials Registry-India. Two additional studies are currently in the protocol stage, and related research has been published in a Springer journal.

Makin Laboratories has also secured three Indian patents and has 16 patent applications under examination, with national-phase patent filings initiated in over 40 countries. The company has been operating in Pithampur since 2013 and is headquartered in Indore. Makin Laboratories follows stringent quality and regulatory standards, including WHO-GMP.

In addition to the recognition, the company is also expanding and modernising its Pithampur R&D facility with state-of-the-art machinery and research infrastructure, with the project slated for completion by March 2030.
