Lone survivor: How I escaped Plateau bus attack

Nasiru Garba, the sole survivor of a bus attack near Dungus Junction in Kuru community, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, has recounted his harrowing experience. The incident occurred around 9:30 pm when the bus stopped to disembark passengers. The bus, en route to Jos, was found covered in blood and with multiple bullet wounds. Garba, who served as the conductor, described the scene as horrific.

All eight passengers and the driver perished during the attack. Garba was stationed in front of the bus, waiting for the driver to collect transport fare after the passengers had alighted. Upon the driver opening the door, the gunmen unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Garba, immediately shielding his head, recounted how the assailants searched his body, stealing his money and phone, which was still charging. They did not identify themselves during the robbery, and Garba remained oblivious to their faces.

Garba, on his fourth day as a bus conductor, expressed shock at the sudden violence. He emphasized that the attack left him utterly confused.
