‘Let’s change the world together’ – Putin tells young people

Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed young people at the 2026 International Youth Festival, calling for global collaboration to create a more open and equitable world. "If you share these aspirations, let's change the world together," Putin stated on September 13. The leader's remarks aimed to inspire the younger generation, emphasizing that they hold the power to shape international affairs as societies undergo rapid technological and social transformations.

Putin welcomed attendees to Yekaterinburg, a city in Russia's Urals region, which he described as a historic crossroads between Europe and Asia. He highlighted the region's significance in Russia's industrial and scientific advancements, from powering the first industrial revolution to generating numerous modern scientific breakthroughs.

"Where else but here, one of the centres of Russia’s industrial, cultural and intellectual legacy, would young leaders from different countries discuss how our life is changing with the arrival of new technology and what kind of world we want in the future?" Putin asked.

The Russian president outlined his vision of a world built on friendship, peace, fairness, and respect among nations. He stressed the importance of equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of their nationality or socioeconomic background. Putin argued that individuals should be free to determine their own paths and should have equal access to essential resources such as medications, food, water, energy, and education, as well as the benefits of the latest technology available to humanity.

Concluding his address, Putin placed the responsibility of shaping the future in the hands of the younger generation, expressing confidence in their ability to succeed. "I have no doubt that you, the younger generation, will succeed. It is your time. Follow your dreams with Russia," he said.
