Koretsky: Public finances nearing critical point, Ukraine risks losing part of intl funding

Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky has warned that the country's public finances are in a critical state, potentially leading to the loss of a significant portion of international funding. The Ukrainian government is urging all members of parliament to swiftly pass bills that are crucial for receiving this aid. If the deadlines for these votes are missed, Ukraine could lose up to $6.75 billion of the $29.5 billion in planned international funding.

This funding is essential for balancing the state budget, funding social expenditures, and most importantly, supporting the Armed Forces.

Koretsky emphasized that fulfilling his part of the obligations is a top priority, with 42 decisions already guaranteed. He stated that the government plans to complete its work by October 15, despite the complexity of the situation, which was discussed in a meeting with G7 countries and EU member states. The government officials are prepared to collaborate with lawmakers on every detail of the bills to ensure the necessary support and expedite decision-making.

Koretsky thanked the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and the diplomats for their understanding and willingness to assist. He called on lawmakers from all factions and groups to take a responsible approach.
