Kebbi NOA urges Nigerians to remain calm over rising fuel prices

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Kebbi State has called on residents and citizens to stay calm amidst fluctuations in the retail price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). Director Muhammed Nasir Karofi explained that these price changes are due to factors such as international crude oil price shifts, foreign exchange fluctuations, and other market dynamics within the deregulated petroleum sector.

He noted that neighboring West African nations are also facing similar price adjustments and inflationary pressures. While acknowledging the strain on households and small businesses, Karofi highlighted that the removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government aims to lessen fiscal pressures and allocate resources towards critical areas like infrastructure, security, education, and social welfare.

The Kebbi State Government has implemented measures to alleviate the impact, including support for public transport, healthcare initiatives, agricultural aid, and welfare programs for disadvantaged groups. Karofi urged local leaders, civil society organizations, youth groups, and citizens to remain patient and back the initiatives aimed at tackling economic challenges.
