JPA kaji inisiatif tambah baik pendapatan penjawat awam

Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) is currently examining an initiative to boost the income of civil servants in the country, stated Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, the agency's head. The current salaries for civil servants are not below the poverty line, but they are advised to be prudent in their financial planning, he said. "In my view, civil servants with the current salaries are not below the poverty line; they only need to plan their expenses wisely."

Meanwhile, the agency is also looking into various measures that could potentially increase the income of civil servants, he added after convening the 2026 Annual Management Seminar of the Civil Service Human Resource Sector. Wan Dahlan mentioned that salary adjustments for civil servants have been carried out through the Civil Service Payroll System (SSPA), which has been operational since January 1, 2024.

This initiative replaces the previous Civil Service Payroll System (SSM) as a major government reform aimed at enhancing staff motivation through a more competitive salary structure and fairer and clearer performance assessment.
