Jerry Jones was 'nervous' before Cowboys played Giants – he was right to be

Dallas Cowboys owner and CEO Jerry Jones expressed his nervousness before his team’s match against the New York Giants, and his concerns proved to be well-founded. An appearance on Dallas radio revealed that Jones’ biggest worry was whether the defensive line could effectively block the Giants. His fears were indeed realized during the game, as the Giants’ defensive front put pressure on quarterback Dak Prescott, though they did not overpower the Cowboys entirely.

Instead, the Giants’ offensive line overwhelmed the Cowboys’ new-look defensive unit under first-year defensive coordinator Christian Parker.

The first half of the match was marred by seven penalties for the Cowboys, giving the Giants a significant edge. In the first three quarters, the Giants rushed 21 times for 105 yards on average per carry. Quarterback Jaxson Dart played efficiently, completing 16 of 20 passes with two touchdowns, one to tight end Isaiah Likely. Additionally, the Giants were successful on 90% of their third-down attempts and led 21-14 at that point.

The Cowboys’ performance did not improve in the fourth quarter. The Giants capitalized on another lengthy drive, scoring a touchdown to extend their lead to 28-14. The Cowboys’ lone response came in the form of a touchdown by Javonte Williams with 5:21 remaining. However, kicker Brandon Aubrey missed the extra point, which was moved back 15 yards due to a taunting penalty on Javonte Williams.

Despite this narrow margin, the Giants used their rushing attack to secure the victory, as the Cowboys’ defense failed to stop them, ultimately icing the game.
