Inexperience led to our CAF Champions League exit – Medeama coach Ibrahim Tanko

Medeama SC's head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has identified the inexperience of certain players as a factor in his team's early exit from the CAF Champions League. The Ghanaian champions were knocked out in the preliminary round after a 4-1 aggregate defeat to TP Mazembe. The Mauve and Yellow were aiming to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit at TNA Stadium in Tarkwa, but succumbed to a 3-1 loss in the second leg.

In an interview following the match, Tanko admitted that some of his players were inexperienced with this level of continental football. "Like I said before, we gave up the goals. Unfortunately, we have a lot of players who are playing here for the first time at this level, so definitely they are jittery a bit," he stated. Tanko also explained that the Ghanaian champions tried to respond after falling behind but were unable to do so.

"We made very good changes, and then we pressed to get the goals, but unfortunately it didn't work out well," he added. The champions of the Ghana Premier League will now focus on their domestic league, seeking to capitalize on their title win and gain more experience for future continental competitions.
