In India, Anwar calls on Muslim scholars to master AI while safeguarding Islamic faith and moral values

Kerala, India – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged Muslim scholars to master artificial intelligence (AI) while safeguarding their faith, moral values, and Islamic heritage, according to a report from Keralam (India) on September 14. Speaking to around 2,000 attendees, including Islamic scholars and students, Anwar emphasized the necessity for Muslim scholars to remain well-informed about technological advancements, as their lack of knowledge could expose them to external influences, making them vulnerable to being manipulated by foreign forces.

He warned that not understanding AI would result in Muslim societies being "weaponised" by external forces to undermine their resolve, which is why it's crucial to approach technological progress with a keen understanding of faith and moral values. Anwar highlighted the importance of preserving Islamic scholarly heritage, including the Quran, Sunnah, and works of prominent Islamic scholars, alongside integrating new knowledge and technology, as the Muslim world must not lose sight of its roots.

He also reflected on the historical significance of the state of Kerala in supporting the spread of Islam and Islamic scholarship across the Malay Archipelago, expressing gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support during his visit to Kerala as part of his official trip to India for the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
