'High IQ president' is all AI needs: Trump backs US lead, targets China & Anthropic

On Monday, US President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to maintaining the United States' lead in artificial intelligence (AI) over China, emphasizing the importance of a strong and intelligent president over additional regulations. In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that the US already had the necessary qualities to be ahead in AI, saying, "The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!)

He added that the Trump Administration was already stopping AI "people" from engaging in harmful or potentially harmful actions, such as those displayed by Anthropic CEO Dario. Trump continued to target China in his post, alleging that a conspiracy was underway against AI and data centers, with China being the only beneficiary.

He warned that whoever wins in the AI race would be the victor, and the US was already leading in this domain. Trump dismissed concerns about the need for tighter regulations, stating that the US had significant criminal and regulatory power over AI companies. He urged against killing the "Golden Goose" by hindering AI development.

Trump's comments came after he told reporters that the US was leading China in AI and should maintain its technological edge.
