Google finally lets all engineers use Anthropic's Claude

Google has granted all its engineers access to Anthropic's Claude for coding purposes, marking a significant shift in the tech giant's approach to AI-powered development. This change comes as Google intensifies its efforts to compete with rivals in the AI coding space. While Google's engineers enjoy some of the best perks in Silicon Valley, they have long been denied access to Anthropic's Claude, a top coding model.

However, this has recently changed with Google making Anthropic's strongest coding model available to engineers across the company through its internal development tool, Antigravity. The move is seen as a response to the growing competition in AI coding, and Google's willingness to turn to rivals for a potential productivity boost.

Google is a significant investor in Anthropic and has pledged up to $40 billion for the company. While Google's primary development model remains Gemini, Claude is now offered as a supplementary tool on a per-user quota basis. This change has been years in the making for some engineers, who have grown frustrated with the limitations of Google's own Gemini model.

Other tech giants, such as Amazon, have also started allowing employees to use Claude following similar complaints from staff.
