Ghana’s reputation must not be dented by self-centred individuals – Madina MP on cocaine seizure

Madina MP Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu has cautioned that Ghana's international standing should not be tarnished by individuals engaged in illicit activities. This comes after French customs reportedly seized nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine, valued at €225 million, from a container of plastic waste that arrived in Dunkirk from Ghana. The MP has called for a comprehensive investigation into the shipment and urged authorities to hold responsible parties accountable.

Sosu emphasized President John Mahama and the NDC government's efforts to position Ghana as a respected diplomatic force on the global stage. He also praised Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for his efforts in promoting Ghana as a country of integrity and a leader in African democracy. Dr Sosu stressed that Ghana's reputation is a national asset that must be safeguarded through transparency, accountability, and the strict enforcement of laws. He warned that the actions of a few must not undermine the country's hard-won international image.
